Microsoft opens online Xbox Museum in honor of 20th anniversary
For the 20th anniversary of Xbox, Microsoft has created an online museum that shows the history of the console manufacturer. In addition to highlights from Xbox history, Xbox owners can also view their own highlights.
Xbox is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, as the original Xbox was released in North America on November 15, 2001. As part of this anniversary, an online museum has been created where visitors can walk around and reflect on several important moments from two decades of Xbox history. For example, the well-known ‘red ring of death’ that plagued the Xbox 360.
The four console generations each have their own section, from the Xbox Series X/S to the first Xbox from 2001. The Halo series has also been given its own section, with the Master Chief as the central point. While walking around you may also encounter other visitors.
For visitors with an Xbox profile who have owned one or more of the Xbox consoles, there is also a personal area in the virtual museum. Based on the profile, achievements and important data related to past gaming behavior are shown.
