Microsoft: No-IP was not involved in malware distribution

Microsoft has admitted that No-IP, a company that provides DNS services, was not knowingly involved in the spread of malware. A lawsuit about it is appropriate. At the end of June, Microsoft took No-IP offline with the permission of the court.

The exact terms of the settlement are secret, but Microsoft has indicated that No-IP had nothing to do with malware. Microsoft had originally sued the company for distributing malware. A spokesperson for No-IP told The Wall Street Journal that the company is “very satisfied” with the terms of the settlement. This indicates that Microsoft may have paid damages to No-IP.

At the end of June, Microsoft took control of the domains of No-IP, a widely used dynamic DNS provider, with court approval. According to Microsoft, No-IP’s service was used to distribute malware. However, the action also took many users offline who had nothing to do with the spread of malware.
