Microsoft makes Xbox One controller suitable for Windows
Microsoft has released PC drivers for the Xbox One controller. As a result, the game controller can now be used when playing games on Windows. Any game that can handle the Xbox 360 controller can be played with the Xbox One controller.
The drivers were first put online by Microsoft’s regular Xbox spokesperson Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson, who posted them on his own website. Microsoft will soon also offer the drivers, which the company has developed itself, via the official channels, according to Hryb. Drivers are available for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. Games can be played on Windows by connecting the Xbox One controller via a micro USB cable after installing the drivers.
Users can use the controller for games that support it. According to Microsoft, any game that already supports the Xbox 360 controller will work. The latter has had support for Windows for quite some time.
Microsoft has been working on PC support for the Xbox One controller for quite some time now. The company already announced last year that it was aiming for a release in 2014. According to Microsoft, the fact that the development has taken so long has to do with the new techniques that are used compared to the Xbox 360 controller.
