Microsoft has released a Chrome extension that allows users to sync their activities in Google’s browser with Windows 10’s Timeline. Previously, the Timeline was only officially supported by Microsoft Edge.

After the installation of Web Activities, as the extension is called, Chrome’s browsing history automatically appears in the Timeline feature of Windows 10. The activities are synced with all other Windows 10 computers of the user and also appear in the Microsoft Launcher app for Android devices.

In Chrome, the user has to sign in once with his Microsoft account, by clicking on the Web Activities icon at the top right. Until now, Chrome’s browsing history could only be synced to the Timeline through the unofficial Timeline Support extension.

Timeline is a feature that was added to Windows 10 in April 2018. Accessible from the taskbar, the feature displays a chronological summary of all app and web activity using snapshots. This should make it easier to find projects that have been worked on in the past. According to Microsoft, more apps with Timeline support will follow later.
