Microsoft makes Windows 10 May 2019 Update available

Microsoft has started releasing the May 2019 Update of Windows 10. Windows 10 users who are emphatically looking for new updates will get the latest version of the operating system.

Windows 10 users who want to install the May 2019 Update can click the ‘Check for updates’ button on Windows Update. Windows will then check whether the update is available to the user. From now on, users must specifically click on ‘Download and install’ to make major feature updates. Microsoft is releasing the update in phases, so not everyone will be able to download and install it afterwards.

Microsoft says it will closely monitor the data and feedback before release. The company has become more cautious about updating its operating system following major issues with the release of the October 2018 Update. The general availability of that update therefore only followed at the end of March 2019.

Those who already receive the May 2019 Update can choose to a certain extent when the operating system should implement it and reboot the system. Users can delay the completion of the installation five times by seven days each. In addition, there will be the option to let Windows determine the best time for reboots based on usage patterns.

Microsoft has already identified some issues related to the update. For example, there is a compatibility issue with an Intel Display driver that prevents screen brightness adjustments from being properly implemented. In addition, there may be audio problems when combined with Dolby Atmos and updates may fail in the presence of an external drive or SD card.

In addition to the changes to the Update process, the Windows 10 2019 Update includes new Fluent Design effects on the interface, a Light theme, a separation of Cortana and the search function, and an instantly customizable Action Center.
