Microsoft makes Holiday Update available for Xbox

Microsoft began rolling out the Holiday Update to the Xbox One and the Xbox app on Windows 10, iOS, and Android on Thursday. The update brings Clubs and Find a Group on Xbox Live to the Xbox platform, among other things.

The Holiday Update mainly brings new social functionality to Xbox, Microsoft reports. The features were already available for use by Preview members along with Arena on Xbox Live, but are now available to every Xbox One owner.

Clubs on Xbox Live makes it possible to form communities of gamers with similar interests. Find a Group allows users to find other players to play a game with; Microsoft makes the comparison with placing a ‘wanted’ call. Achievement Rarity is also part of the update. This allows players to see how rare a particular achievement is.

In addition, Microsoft adds Group Messaging and updates the Gamerscore Leaderboard. These changes are coming to both the Xbox One and the Xbox app on Windows 10, iOS, and Android. Finally, emojis have been added to the Xbox One keyboard.

The next update for Xbox will be next year’s Creators Update. Details about the features of that update are not yet available.
