Microsoft appears to be working on support for printers in Windows Phone. This is apparent from a vacancy that the company has put online. It is not yet clear when the print functionality will come to the mobile operating system.

The vacancy for a software development engineer was posted online by Microsoft on its website. The description refers to a cloud printing platform for Windows. The associated software is not only developed for desktops and laptops, but also for tablets and smartphones. So it seems that Windows Phone will be equipped with a built-in print functionality, but the details are still lacking. By the way, Microsoft also says it will come with Xbox support.

Although no native print functionality has been built into Windows Phone yet, users can control a printer via various apps. It is not yet clear which printers will be supported by Microsoft’s official print functionality.

Makers of competing mobile operating systems such as Google and Apple have already developed their own cloud printing services. For example, there is Cloud Print from Google that works for Android, among other things, and Apple has developed AirPrint, which is suitable for iOS, among other things. Incidentally, Samsung also recently introduced a cloud printing service that is suitable for both Android and iOS.
