Microsoft is working on a Surface Go with an Arm SoC, Windows Central claims. It would be a variant of the Snapdragon 7c-soc. The company is also said to be working on a smaller Surface Pro, with an 11″ screen. In any case, the products will not be released before the fall.

The Surface Go 4 with Snapdragon 7c SoC would be the first Go-2-in-1 with Arm SoC. The Surface Pro 9, announced last year, is already available with Arm SoC, after previous Surface Arm products. The Go 4 with Arm-soc gets according to the anonymous Windows Central sources comparable performance to current Surface Go models and should be more energy efficient. It is not yet known whether the 2-in-1 will be available as a 5G model. The medium writes that Microsoft is also expected to continue to release Surface Go 4 models with Intel CPUs.

Furthermore, the company is said to be working on a smaller Surface Pro model, in addition to the existing 13″ model. The smaller version would have an 11″ screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The 11″ model would be known internally as Luxor, the Arm-Surface Go 4 would be internally called Tanta.

In addition to the two new products, the sources say that Microsoft wants to improve its operating system for tablets. The File Explorer, the log-in screen and the desktop environment, among other things, should be made more suitable for touch controls. These improvements may not appear until the next Windows version, which is expected to arrive in late 2024, according to Windows Central. The smaller Surface Pro and Arm-Surface Go 4 should be released in the fall of 2023 or later.
