Microsoft is working on news app that reads messages aloud

Microsoft is working on an application called NewsCast. The intention of the software is that it compiles a playlist with news items, which are then read aloud. The app is coming out for mobile operating systems, but has not been officially released yet.

The company from Redmond had put the application in question on its website, but it has since been taken offline again. Probably NewsCast wasn’t ready to be released yet. Neowin discovered the application’s existence and was therefore briefly given the opportunity for a test. The site describes NewsCast as a news reading application.

NewsCast creates a playlist of news items that may be of interest and lasts no longer than 30 seconds. The user can then listen to it. It is possible to set the balance between local and global news yourself, but otherwise there are few customization options. There are also no options yet to modify the news feed. However, you can choose from two reading voices.

Probably the lack of features has to do with the fact that the application is still being tested internally and is therefore not yet finished. Neowin stumbled upon an iOS version of the app, but it is likely that NewsCast will also be released for other mobile operating systems, such as Android and Windows 10 Mobile. It is not known when the software should be ready for use.
