Microsoft is working on dual-screen emulation in Chromium
Microsoft is going to add dualscreen emulation to the Chromium engine. The experimental feature can emulate the display of a Surface Duo and Samsung Galaxy Fold. That is for developers to prepare their websites for the devices.
The feature is currently behind an experimental flag and marked as active on the Chromium platform. According to the description there is emulation for the two mentioned devices. The Galaxy Fold can also display the front screen. If a device has a hinge in the middle, such as the Surface Duo, that will be shown in the emulation.
The emulation allows developers to optimize websites for dual-screen devices when using a Chromium browser. Microsoft’s Edge browser has been based on Chromium since the beginning of this year, just like Google Chrome.
Last year, Microsoft already opened an early access program for developers working on software for use on dual-screen devices, and early this year Microsoft put an SDK online. Microsoft will release its Surface Duo, a dual-screen Android smartphone, later this year. The Surface Neo tablet with Windows 10X has reportedly been delayed until next year.
