Microsoft is testing Paint function that converts text into images

Microsoft has started rolling out its generative AI-enabled version of Paint, Paint Cocreator, to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels. The feature is based on OpenAI’s DALL-E.

With the new version of Paint, Paint Cocreator, Windows users will soon be able to create digital images based on text prompts. Beautiful art can be created with just a few words, Microsoft indicates. The application will have a payment model in credits.

Strict terms of use

Microsoft maintains remarkably strict terms of use for Paint Cocreator. For example, content filtering is applied within the tool to prevent harmful, aggressive or obscene images from being created.

This filtering takes place on the basis of policies that the tech giant uses to monitor its standards in the areas of human dignity, diversity and inclusivity, among other things.

Furthermore, users may not create images that violate the privacy of others or violate the laws and regulations in their country.

The availability of this tool will initially target Windows Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels. They must have Paint version 11.2309.20.0 or higher and will be placed on a waiting list. The right Insiders can join the waitlist by clicking the new Cocreator button in their Microsoft account.

Once accepted, users receive 50 free credits for creating images.

The intelligent version of Paint Cocreator is now only available in the US, UK, France, Canada, Italy and Germany. Prompts can also be written only in English.
