Microsoft is testing new sound recording app in Windows 11

Microsoft is testing Sound Recorder, a revamped sound recording app in Windows 11. Testers who participate in the Windows Insider program can find the app on the Dev Channel.

Sound Recorder app should replace current Voice Recorder app, writes Microsoft. The revamped recording program has a new view for audio during recording and playback. In addition, the appearance of the app itself is different.

Microsoft says Sound Recorder includes support for changing the recording device and file format from within the app. According to the company, this was one of the most requested features in Feedback Hub. It is not yet known when Sound Recorder will be rolled out to all Windows 11 users and when it will replace Voice Recorder.
