Microsoft is testing Edge feature that shows list of downloadable files on site

The Android version of Microsoft Edge Canary has gained a new feature that automatically collects and lists all downloadable PDF files on a site. This feature also notifies users when downloadable files are found.

As far as we know, the function only works with PDF files, reports Ghacks. When navigating to a website with downloadable PDF files, a message appears at the bottom of the screen stating that downloadable files have been found. When clicking the View button, a list of all files available for download will appear, followed by a Download button.

The list only shows the file names and file sizes. No further information is provided about which link on the web page can be used to download the file. Unclear file names can make it difficult for the user to know what is being downloaded. The function is automatically enabled in the Canary test version. Users can disable the feature in the settings. Microsoft has not announced anything else about the feature. It is therefore not clear whether other file types should also appear in this overview in the future.
