Microsoft will release the Network Protection functionality in Defender Advanced Threat Protection for macOS this year. A beta of Network Protection will be released for Apple’s operating system in December.

Network Protection is a feature of Advanced Threat Protection in Defender, the security package for companies that will be called Defender for Endpoint in the future. With Network Protection, system administrators can block certain potentially dangerous domains on users’ devices, or allow only certain applications. ATP Network Protection also automatically blocks http or https traffic to suspicious domains, and can prevent ransomware from encrypting system files. Defender ATP has been available on macOS for some time, but Network Protection has not yet. Microsoft is now writing in an updated roadmap that that feature is also coming to Apple’s operating system soon.

According to the roadmap, Network Protection will be released as a preview in December 2020. That happens worldwide. Computers that fall under Network Protection protection must be at least on macOS 10.15.4.
