Microsoft is preparing Windows 10 May 2020 Update for release
Microsoft has provided the release to manufacturing version of Windows 10 May 2020 Update to the first Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring. With that, the upcoming feature update is probably ready for release in early May.
Microsoft is bringing build version 19041.207 of Windows 10 to some of the Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring. Microsoft expects this to be the final build of Windows 10 May 2020 Update, and test users who want to install it can try downloading it manually through Windows Update.
Microsoft emphasizes that this is a cumulative build that contains all fixes from build versions 19041.21 through 19041.173, and the new fixes include, for example, an issue where the remote procedure call service stopped unexpectedly.
The company also warns that users of Windows Mixed Reality may encounter problems with the rtm version. The advice to them is to wait with the May 2020 Update via Release Preview for the time being. Microsoft is working on a fix that should be released in early May. It seems likely that the feature update will be widely available around that time.
The May 2020 Update brings changes to Cortana Assistant, Search, Windows Subsystem for Linux 2, Notepad, Windows Sandbox, and Task Manager, among others. Microsoft itself puts the changes in a row on a page.
