Microsoft is no longer working on Insider builds of Windows 10 Mobile. A developer announced this on Twitter. This leaves only security updates for the mobile operating system.

The decision is not announced in a grand manner, but is simply apparent from a tweet from Brandon LeBlanc, Senior Program Manager of the Windows Insider team, responding to a question from another user. In October of last year said same developer that the company did work on Insider builds, but somewhere between then and now that has changed.

Surprisingly, Microsoft’s move isn’t quite. In October of last year, it was already announced that new hardware and features for Windows 10 Mobile were ‘not the focus’, which almost completely destroyed expectations for developments on those fronts.

What Microsoft’s future on mobile devices will look like is not clear at the moment. It is rumored that Microsoft is working on a foldable tablet that can also be used to make calls. It would run on Windows 10.
