Microsoft is looking for a senior design manager mr/vr to lead the Xbox Mixed Reality team in Redmond. The team has to make a mmog that can be played on both Windows and Xbox and in which the social aspect seems to be very important.

The advertisement for the senior design manager mr/vr can be found on Microsoft’s career site. The new employee must work within the Windows and Devices Group.

The Xbox Mixed Reality team will be working on an as yet unnamed game about which little is revealed in the advertisement. The project is described as a ‘massively social gaming and entertainment experience’ that should be released for both PC and console.

In the preamble of the advertisement it is stated that the applicant must be interested in both mmogs and virtual reality. He or she must also have experience in building ‘social systems and experiences’.

The designation mr/vr behind the job description suggests that Microsoft has planned a game that can not only be played with several players at the same time, but where the players can also observe the game world through a vr headset or an ar headset like the Hololens from Microsoft.

Microsoft released a Development Edition of the Hololens in 2016, although the headset is only available in North America. The Redmond-based company is also already working on a successor, which is expected in 2019. Microsoft has now also launched controllers for a vr or ar headset, which are sold together with an ar headset from Acer.
