Microsoft is distributing Windows 11 upgrade for Windows 10 PCs from 2022
Microsoft is rolling out the Windows 11 upgrade from 2022 to existing Windows 10 PCs. This upgrade will be released in phases during the first half of the year. Microsoft previously said that this rollout would begin at the end of 2021.
The official Windows Twitter account writes since this weekend to multiple users that the upgrade of current Windows 10 PCs will begin in 2022 and will take the first half of the year. A concrete start date is not mentioned in the message. Existing Windows 10 PCs will likely be able to update manually before then.
When announcing Windows 11 last Thursday, Microsoft said that the free upgrade would be released at the end of this year. In a blog page published Thursday, Microsoft writes that the free upgrade will be rolled out ‘from the holiday period’. So the company is now saying on Twitter that the upgrade of “Windows 10 devices currently in use” will take place in the first half of next year, which will likely involve the automatic upgrade.
