Microsoft is considering releasing high-end Lumias like 950 and 950 XL
The two upcoming Lumia devices with codenames Talkman and Cityman would come on the market as Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. That’s what Microsoft is considering, according to a Windows site. It concerns a 5.2″ and 5.7″ device, both with an iris scanner and USB type c.
The details about the devices are listed by Windows Central, which is well-versed in Microsoft topics. The devices were previously referred to as Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL, but Microsoft would consider calling them Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
The Lumia 950, or Talkman, has a 5.2″ screen with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. The processor is the Snapdragon 808 and the device has a battery capacity of 3000mAh, according to Windows Central. The Lumia 950 XL, codenamed Cityman, is with its 5.7″ screen larger but has the resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. The processor is the Snapdragon 810 and the battery capacity is slightly larger with 3300mAh.
Both devices will have a 20-megapixel camera, 3GB ram, 32GB storage capacity and USB type-c connection. They also support wireless charging via the Qi standard. Furthermore, they both have an iris scanner, for biometric login to Windows 10. However, this feature would not work at the time of release, but would be added with an update, a few months after the introduction.
Microsoft would deliver a number of extras for the devices, such as a stylus and smart cover. There would also be a docking station for USB, with which the devices with a screen and keyboard can be connected for the Continuum functionality of Windows 10. According to Windows Central, the announcement will be made in September at the IFA and sales will start in October or November.
