Microsoft invests 6.69 billion euros in new data centers in Spain
Microsoft plans to invest 6.69 billion euros in new data centers in the north of Spain. The investment is spread over ten years. Amazon also previously invested in data centers in the same region.
Microsoft wants to build the data centers in the Aragon region, writes Reuters. According to the regional government, Microsoft has already applied for a building permit to build data centers just outside the city of Zaragoza. Microsoft itself does not want to comment on the plans.
Competitor Amazon announced at the end of May that it is investing 15.7 billion euros to significantly expand its data centers in the Aragón region. These data centers have been operational since the end of 2022. Amazon is also spreading its investment over ten years.
