Microsoft investigates login problems for new Windows Phone users
Microsoft is investigating a problem of Windows Phone users where they cannot log in to a Microsoft account to install apps from the Windows Store, for example. The problem seems to occur mainly on Windows Phone 8.1.
Most of the complaints seem to come from Windows Phone 8.1 users, but Windows 10 Mobile users also seem to be experiencing problems. The issue occurs when a user starts using a phone for the first time or when he or she has performed a factory reset, according to the complaints. Microsoft employee Nath Bea says on the software giant’s own forum that Microsoft is investigating the problems. Microsoft’s forum is full of threads on the subject.
If users are unable to sign in to the Microsoft Account, it will be impossible to access the Store and install apps and games. As a result, only the default apps are accessible on the device. In addition, the data of the Microsoft account, such as the associated mail and calendar, are not available to users of a new or just reset device due to the problem. For existing users there don’t seem to be any problems.
