Microsoft Introduces Surface Hub 2

Microsoft has announced its Surface Hub 2. The new screen to collaborate on is at 50.5″ a lot smaller than the first variant, but up to four screens can be combined. The Surface Hub 2 has a 4k camera.

The Surface Hub 2 is a large touchscreen with a built-in computer. The screen can be used both portrait and landscape orientation and the orientation of the 4k camera, which can be used for video conferencing, for example, also rotates.

The 50.5″ screen itself also has a 4k resolution, with a 3:2 aspect ratio. According to Microsoft, the integrated speakers and microphones are suitable for use in larger rooms. The device will be able to work with several users at the same time. logging, so people can work together, opening their own documents and combining them with those of others.

The images and the video show a stand with which the Surface Hub 2 can be placed in a room. It is also possible to hang the computer on a wall to use it as a kind of digital whiteboard. The new model is smaller than the predecessor, but it is possible to put up to four Surface Hub 2s side by side to increase the display area. Programs are then displayed on multiple screens.

On the side of the Surface Hub 2 is a button with which a menu can be operated. The entire screen is also a touchscreen and a stylus is attached to the other side. The screen can be operated with fingers as well as with a pen. Microsoft does not yet say which hardware is in the Surface Hub 2.

The Microsoft Surface Hub 2 is the successor to the first Hub, which Microsoft announced in early 2015 and released a year later. The first Surface Hub consisted of an 84″ screen, although there was also a cheaper 55″ variant.

This year, Microsoft will test the Surface Hub 2 with selected partners. The screen will be on the market next year, at an as yet unknown price. The old 84″ model was put on the market for 22,000 euros and the 55″ version cost about 8,000 euros.
