Microsoft integrates enterprise cloud access into OneDrive app for Android

Microsoft has revamped its OneDrive app for the Android platform, making it easier to access a business OneDrive account in addition to a private account. The functionality is not yet available in the iOS and Windows Phone app.

The updated OneDrive app for Android now shows with icons whether a file is stored on a business OneDrive account or on a private account. Access to a file or the entire app can also be secured by means of a PIN code. With the update of the app, OneDrive users can now manage multiple accounts from one application.

It is striking that Microsoft first opts for a release on Android and has not yet made these features available for its own Windows Phone platform and Apple’s iOS. A Microsoft employee does not want to give a precise reason to TechCrunch, but promised that the new features will also be available soon in the iOS and Windows Phone versions. The employee also stated that Microsoft continues to pursue a cross-platform strategy for its cloud services.
