Microsoft has the rtm version of Windows 10 ready, reports tech site The Verge. This means that the rtm version will be ready about two weeks before Microsoft will release the final version. That will happen on July 29.

With the rtm version, Windows 10 is ready for release. According to The Verge, the build that counts as rtm is 10240. In recent years, The Verge has shown that it has good resources within Microsoft. The rtm version is intended for manufacturers who already want to install Windows 10 on devices that will be released from July 29. Microsoft does not consider Windows 10 ‘finished’. In its own words, it now sees Windows ‘as a service’ and therefore offers continuous updates for the operating system.

The rtm status is the last stage before the release of the OS. Microsoft announced Windows 10 last fall and also publicly released test versions to collect as much feedback as possible and fix bugs.

Windows 10 will be released July 29. Microsoft promises every user of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 a free update, provided users perform that update in the coming year. Thanks to the free update, the vast majority of users should soon be on the latest version of Windows, something that took a long time in the past.
