‘Microsoft has Facebook in sight for takeover’
Microsoft is said to have turned its attention to Facebook after the failed Yahoo takeover, reports the Wall Street Journal. The software company would forge new acquisition plans under pressure from shareholders.
The software giant would, so stilt the American newspaper, have indicated on an informal basis to the Facebook management that it would like to take over the social networking site in its entirety. The rapprochement would have been sought, among other things, after the necessary pressure from disappointed Microsoft shareholders. However, both parties deny reports of a possible takeover.
Microsoft bought a 1.6 percent stake in Facebook last October for $240 million in exchange for an advertising deal. The value of the social networking site was estimated by the software company at 15 billion dollars at the time. Even archenemy Google has previously shown interest in Facebook.
