Microsoft Flight Simulator gets support for DLSS this year
The PC version of Microsoft Flight Simulator will receive support for Nvidia DLSS this year. Developer Asobo Studio confirms this in a Q&A. The company does not mention a concrete release date for the update.
Asobo Studio writes in the Q&A that DLSS will be available for Microsoft Flight Simulator ‘later this year’. The upscaling technique will be introduced in the game’s DirectX 12 mode, the company reports. Further details are not mentioned. DLSS is a ‘supersampling’ technique from Nvidia, which uses the Tensor cores of RTX video cards. A game is rendered at a lower resolution. AI upscaling is then used to increase image quality. That should yield higher frame rates.
The studio further confirms that it will introduce “several surprise expansions” for the game in 2022. The company will also release World Update 7 on January 31, which focuses on Australia with updated satellite imagery and a new digital elevation model. World Update 8 will follow at the end of March, which focuses on Iberia and includes both Portugal and Spain. In May, Asobo Studio will also release a free Top Gun: Maverick expansion for Flight Simulator. Gliders and helicopters appear in the fall.
