Microsoft fixes Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 hibernation bug

Microsoft and Intel have released new firmware for the Surface Book and the Surface Pro 4. With the firmware update, the company aims to fix the hibernation bug and several other power management errors.

Due to the sleep mode bug, a Surface Book uses more power during sleep mode than under normal conditions. It causes the Surface Book to not properly enter sleep mode when closing the lid. This results in high energy consumption, which makes the Surface Book very hot. The issues are said to occur with some Surface Pro 4 tablets as well.

One of the solutions was to set the Surface Book so that the computer did not go into sleep mode when the lid was closed, but rather put it into sleep mode. The problem should be solved with this firmware update.

In addition to the Surface UEFI update that should fix the power issues, other power-related bugs have also been squashed, according to the Surface Book update history. For example, Intel has updated the Precise Touche and HD Graphics 520 driver.
