Microsoft: Extensions won’t come to Edge browser until 2016
Microsoft will not provide its Edge browser with the option to install extensions until next year. An update for Windows 10 is expected next month, which also includes improvements for Edge.
Several American media reported this, which received a statement from Microsoft. No precise release date was released for extensions on the Edge browser by the Redmond company; More information about the update plans will be provided next year. With the statement, Microsoft is responding to rumors that have come out about the lack of support for extensions.
These previously published rumors showed that Microsoft plans to release a major update for Windows 10 next month. This also includes improvements for the Edge browser, according to Microsoft insider Paul Thurrott. Bundled in what would be called the Fall Update, the new software further features interface improvements, including context menus. The speech and information service Cortana would also be improved, new Skype apps are available and the start menu gets an extra column for pinning apps.
In recent times, Insider builds have been regularly released that contain new features in Windows 10. The aforementioned features have therefore been available to members of Microsoft’s preview program for some time.
