The warranty period for Xbox 360 consoles with the E74 error is extended to three years. Microsoft previously also took this measure for consoles that were struggling with a red ring of death. Already paid repairs will be reimbursed.

Microsoft has announced that it offers an extended warranty scheme to Xbox 360 owners who are confronted with the so-called E74 error message. In the case of the E74 report, the warranty period is extended from one to three years. RROD victims can also request a free repair from Microsoft up to three years after purchase.

Xbox 360 users who have already paid to have their console rid of the E74 issue will receive a refund. This should normally happen automatically, but those who have not received a refund by July 1 are advised to contact the hardware manufacturer. This is possible until 1 November 2009 at the latest.

The career of the E74error message gained momentum after the implementation of the new Xbox 360 dashboard. Microsoft also denies that there is any connection with the red ring of death, which previously caused a lot of commotion.
