Microsoft extends support for Windows 10 Enterprise 1709 for half a year
Microsoft will not provide security updates for Windows 10 Enterprise version 1709 until April 14 of this year, but until October 13, 2020. The software developer is postponing the end of support due to the impact of the new coronavirus.
The support extension applies to the Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions of Windows 10, build version 1709. That version was released on October 17, 2017. Microsoft’s lifecycle policy is to support the Enterprise and Education editions for 30 months after release which would mean that support for version 1709 would end on April 14th. The OS would then no longer receive security updates.
To relieve customers during a period when they are dealing with the impact of the new coronavirus, Microsoft is now extending support for another six months. Support for the Home and Pro editions of version 1709, which appeared under the Fall Creators Update name, ended in April 2019. Microsoft will maintain the Home and Pro editions for 18 months after the release date.
