Microsoft experimented with fake AI response to ‘Chrome’ search in Bing
Microsoft experimented with a fake AI response when using the search query ‘chrome’ in search engine Bing in Edge. That fake AI response consisted of a large block at the top of the screen with positive messages about Bing.
The fake AI response was supposed to be reminiscent of a Bing Chat response, but for many users it was exactly the same and was not Bing Chat generated text. reports The Verge. At the top of the block on the screen was the text ‘here is what I generated for you’ with a Bing logo next to it. The block came up when searching for ‘chrome’. Google Chrome is a competitor to Microsoft Edge.
It is unknown why Microsoft did the experiment with the seemingly irrelevant text. The ad for Bing shows positive aspects of the search engine, but the Microsoft competitor for Chrome is not Bing, but the browser Edge. Microsoft has not responded substantively to the experiment.
