Microsoft is adding more options to virtual desktops. This makes them easier to personalize. Users can set different wallpapers and move the desktops. The terminal will also become an ‘inbox app’ from now on.

The changes are currently in Insider Preview 21337 for the Dev Channel of Windows 10. In that test version, the Virtual Desktops feature gets a mainly graphical upgrade. With the virtual desktops it is possible to set up multiple desktop environments in Windows 10, for example for the use of different applications. In Build 21337 it is possible to swap the desktops by dragging them, or by using a keyboard shortcut to move them left or right. It is also possible to set a unique background per desktop. It is one of the first major changes to Virtual Desktops since the release of Windows 10 in 2015.

There are even more small improvements in Windows 10. Graphically, there will be more spacing in the Explorer and various icons get a new look. In addition, Microsoft makes Auto HDR available, with which a PC switches to HDR by default if games support it. The terminal in Windows also becomes an ‘inbox app’. This means that the app can now also work with previews and beta functions in Insider versions of Windows. However, updates for the terminal will continue to be distributed via the Microsoft Store.

Finally, Microsoft adds Power Automate Desktop to the preview build. That software allows users to automate tasks. The software was announced earlier this month. Microsoft said at the time that the tool would be free for all Windows 10 users.
