Microsoft enables Bing Chat in Chrome for some users

Microsoft appears to be adding Chrome support to Bing Chat. This means that the ChatGPT-supported version of Bing can no longer only be used in Edge, but also in Google’s browser. There will also be support for Safari.

Windows Latest got access to Bing AI on Chrome and was able to use the smart assistant there. The site previously wrote that Microsoft experimented with Bing in Safari.

Previously, Bing AI or Bing Chat was only available to signed-in Edge users. Although the browser is Chromium-based, Bing Chat did not work on browsers other than Edge. Chromium browser Vivaldi recently changed the user agent of its browser to Edge when users visited Bing, so that they could also chat with the assistant on Vivaldi. However, there was no official support for Chrome.

The functionality is limited on Chrome. Users can only send a maximum of five messages per conversation compared to 30 in Edge. The number of characters is also limited; that’s just two thousand in Chrome, half the maximum number of characters supported in Edge. According to Windows Central, pop-ups also regularly appear that direct users to Edge.

Bing Chat will also have a native dark mode. It consists of mainly black colors with blue accents. Users can set whether they want to set a light or dark mode, or the system default.
