Microsoft confirms that Windows 10 will receive a second update this year
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will receive a second major update later this year. That update, which bears the internal name Redstone 3, will mainly change the design of the Windows 10 user interface. The update comes after the Creators Update, which will be released in April.
Microsoft announced the arrival of the second major update later this year at the Microsoft Ignite event in Australia. This Windows 10 Redstone 3 update is mainly about Project Neon, the collective name under which Microsoft wants to bring animations, simplicity and consistency to the interface of Windows 10.
In addition, it will probably be possible to blur the background and the navigation bar, so that the currently open screen or app stands out more. This update also aims to make the operating system work uniformly on all platforms, such as the HoloLens for example. It is likely that the update will also introduce the People Bar, which will display the faces of recent contacts in the lower right corner of the taskbar.
Redstone 2 will be released in April, the first major update to Windows 10 this year. This Creators Update introduces an e-book store, among other things. The update also makes it possible to watch a video in Windows 10 in a small overlay, as is already possible with Facebook and YouTube. Microsoft will also introduce dynamic locking, a feature that will lock the PC or tablet the moment a paired Bluetooth phone is no longer within range of the Windows 10 device.
