Microsoft confirms older Lumias will no longer receive feature updates
Microsoft has published the smartphones that are officially supported for the upcoming Creators Update of Windows. Among them are devices like the Lumia 550 and 650, while older models are missing. Microsoft confirms previously leaked information.
The Redmond company says in a statement that there is official support for the HP Elite x3, Lumia 550, 640/640 XL, 650, 950/950 XL, Alcatel Idol 4s and the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL. That corresponds to the information ZDNet published last week. The phones that are not on the list are not officially supported in the Creators Update, according to Microsoft. Users in the Insiders program can continue to use the unsupported devices at their own risk under the update, the company added.
Among the devices missing from the list are the 2014 Lumia 930, 2013 Lumia 1520, and much cheaper models released by Microsoft, such as the 430, 435, 530, 535, 630, 635, 730, and 830. those devices came out a little over two years ago. Microsoft states that it has determined from feedback that it “can no longer deliver the best experience” for older devices.
