Microsoft completes acquisition of Activision Blizzard, officially becomes part of Xbox
As previously stated, Microsoft today completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The announcement comes not long after the UK Competition and Markets Authority gave its official approval for the $68.7 billion deal. About 21 months have passed since the takeover was announced.
This means that the approximately 17,000 employees of Activision, Blizzard and King will now come under the authority of Microsoft. These developers are responsible for several major franchises, including Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot, (World of) Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, and Candy Crush. This makes Microsoft the third largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony.
Xbox is now working hard to bring several of these titles to Game Pass and “other platforms”. The company also notes that players from all platforms are welcome, be it Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, PC or mobile.
