‘Microsoft comes with new preview Windows 10 for smartphones’ – update

Microsoft will release a new developer version of its new mobile operating system, Windows 10, on Friday. New screenshots of that operating system recently appeared on the internet.

Microsoft CEO Gabriel Aul reported this in a podcast, Windows Central wrote, among others. According to that site, the tech giant will release a blog post later this week detailing the changes to the technical preview. It would mainly concern adjustments that were suggested by users, although it is not yet clear which these are.

As far as we know, the technical preview will appear on Friday for all recent Windows Phone devices, except for the Nokia Lumia Icon published in America and the European Lumia 930. They would not be able to display the new operating system properly due to problems with scaling. Microsoft will solve those problems with a next build, the company already made clear last month.

New screenshots of Windows 10 for smartphones recently appeared on the internet. It shows how Microsoft has thoroughly overhauled the operating system. For example, there is a new settings menu and it can also be concluded that functionalities from the desktop version of Windows, such as styles in emails, are coming to the mobile operating system.

Finally, images of Microsoft’s new browser, which is currently codenamed “Spartan,” surfaced via a Weibo account. This shows that the address bar has shifted from bottom to top. Furthermore, the messaging, Outlook and calendar app have undergone a makeover.

The first version of Windows 10 for smartphones was released on February 12. Before that, Microsoft already released a number of preview versions for the desktop version of its new operating system. Microsoft is expected to officially release Windows 10, which will also be released for the desktop under the same name, in mid-2015.

Update, 8.50pm – Microsoft confirmed the update in a blog post. The update includes new Mail, Calendar, Phone, Messaging, People and Maps apps. In addition, the overview of switching apps has been overhauled. In addition, Microsoft indicated in the blog post that it has adjusted the keyboard layout based on feedback.
