Microsoft brings Xbox Game Pass subscription to PC
Microsoft is going to make its Xbox Game Pass subscription available on PC. This gives members access to more than a hundred games. All new games from Microsoft’s own studios are available immediately upon release via the subscription.
When Xbox Game Pass will be available to PC users and what it will cost per month has not yet been announced. Microsoft says it will provide more details during its E3 presentation on June 9. The subscription has been around for a number of years for Xbox users and costs 10 euros per month.
Xbox Game Pass is a subscription that gives members access to a selection of games. Those games must be installed locally, it is not a streaming service. Microsoft releases all games made by its own Xbox Game Studios through the service immediately upon release. This concerns games such as Forza, Gears of Wars and Halo.
In the announcement, Microsoft makes it clear that the new games from Obsidian and inXile will also be available via the Xbox Game Pass. Those studios were previously acquired by Microsoft. In addition, Microsoft says it is partnering with publishers such as Bethesda, Deep Silver, Devolver Digital, Paradox, Sega and more.
Microsoft also emphasizes that games made by Xbox Game Studios will also be released through other download stores. It was previously announced that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection will also be available on Steam. Gears 5 is also out on Steam. In addition, Microsoft says it is working on making games available in other download stores, without naming specific names.
Finally, Microsoft is announcing support for Win32 games in the Microsoft Store. That should make it easier for developers to release their games in the download store for Windows 10. This would also give gamers more options to make adjustments to games; Microsoft may be referring to mods.
