Microsoft has again paused the distribution of Windows 10 October Update for some users. The reason is that Intel has released versions of its Intel audio display drivers which lead to audio issues.

Microsoft reports the new blockage on its status page for the 1809 versions of Windows 10 and Windows Server and Windows Server 2019. After updating to those versions, users may experience issues related to the playback of audio, from a display connected via hdmi, usb-c or displayport is connected to a PC, according to Microsoft.

The cause lies with Intel audio display drivers with version numbers 24.20.100.6344 and 24.20.100.6345, which Intel accidentally released to PC manufacturers. The drivers activate functionality that Windows does not support, according to Microsoft. The Redmond company is working with Intel and OEMs to run the drivers.

The Windows 10 October Update is going dramatically for Microsoft. In early October, the company had to stop distribution after people complained that some of their files had gone missing. The company resumed distribution in mid-November, but there were still problems after that, including network drives and iCloud.
