Microsoft app enables early installation of Windows 10 Creators Update
Microsoft has a tool online that allows users to update their desktop or laptop to the Creators Update, the new version of Windows 10 that Microsoft will release soon. The update is version number 15063.
The tool has been available online for some time after a tweet from a Microsoft watcher, but since Tuesday the build can also be downloaded via the tool, an .exe file of almost 6MB in size. In the meantime, links have also appeared to the iso files of the build in 64bit and 32bit variants. This concerns the variants that Microsoft had released as Insider Preview builds, but as it turns out, that is the same version as the stable build.
Microsoft will officially release the Creators Update next month. During the presentation of the new version of Windows last year, Microsoft said that the Creators Update would appear “early 2017”, although the software maker has also already talked about spring.
Microsoft wants to make working in 3d accessible to everyone with the Creators Update. The software maker is doing this with the introduction of Paint 3D, a 3D variant of the ancient drawing program in Windows.
In addition, the update includes a blue light filter and a ‘game mode’ to boost performance when running games. Once users start the installation, they are first presented with a privacy screen with settings. There they can specify whether Microsoft can use the location, diagnostic data and voice files, and whether apps can show personalized advertising.
Update, Wednesday: The links to the tool and the iso files no longer work. Microsoft seems to have taken them offline. Meanwhile, the software giant has announced that the Creators Update will be coming to all Windows 10 users from April 11.
