Microsoft Announces Visual Studio Online
Microsoft announced Visual Studio Online at its Build 2019 conference. This is an online software development service that runs in the browser. Visual Studio Online is based on Visual Studio Code.
Microsoft calls Visual Studio Online itself a companion editor, and the web-based service, according to the company, serves as an addition to the existing Visual Studio offering. It is not yet known what options the editor will have, but Microsoft mentions making quick edits on the go and participating in Live Share sessions as applications.
The company promises that Visual Studio Online feels familiar and can tap into the ecosystem of extensions for Visual Studio Code. In any case, the online environment will support Visual Studio Code workspaces and there will also be support for IntelliCode.
