Microsoft has announced its first high-end headphones. The Surface Headphones have adjustable noise cancellation and are equipped with speech assistant Cortana. The headphones will be released in the United States later this year for $349.

Microsoft presents the Surface Headphones as a smart headphone. There is a physical dial on one of the ear cups with which the active noise cancellation can be set. The headset automatically pauses music when users remove it from their ears and resumes when the Surface Headphones are put back on.

According to CNET, Microsoft has been working on the headphones for three years and it will only be released in the US for now, but in the announcement, Microsoft writes that a release in the UK will also take place. The website says that at 290 grams, the headphones are slightly heavier than competitors from Bose and Sony, but are comfortable. It is not yet known whether Microsoft has plans to later release the headset in other parts of the world.
