Microsoft Announces Smite and Goat Simulator for Xbox One
During a press conference prior to Gamescom, Microsoft announced that PC games Smite and Goat Simulator will be coming to Xbox One. Both games are part of the ID@Xbox program, with which Microsoft wants to bring indie games to its console.
Because both Smite and Goat Simulator will be part of the ID@Xbox program, both games will first appear for the Xbox One and perhaps only after that for the PlayStation 4.
Smite is a moba game that was released in March as a free-to-play Windows game. Developer Hi-Rez Studios uses the game to capitalize on the success of well-known moba games such as Dota 2 and League of Legends. However, neither of these has announced a console version. However, Smite is not the first moba game to appear for consoles. Publisher Warner Bros. tried it in 2012 with Guardians of Middle-Earth, but had little success with the game based on The Lord of the Rings.
Goat Simulator is a game that was released earlier this year for Windows, OS X and Linux. Despite the term “Simulator” in the title, the game is far from serious; players run like goats through the world, with the aim of inflicting as much damage as possible. The game is made by the Swedish Coffee Stain Studios.
