Microsoft announces public but limited Insider program for Xbox One

Microsoft has announced that it will also launch public preview programs for the Xbox one after Skype. Program participants can easily get betas of apps and games, but system update betas are still limited to a limited group.

Microsoft says it is limiting the betas of the system updates to the existing group of testers because it “already has a very large group of volunteers who do a very good job and give good feedback.” The expansion of the program to the general public is thus limited to betas of games, apps and “other console experiences.” The limitation of the system update betas to a select group of testers is also Sony’s behavior with its PlayStation 4.

When exactly the program, which is called the Xbox Insider Program instead of the Xbox Preview program, will be made public for everyone, the company has not announced. This should happen soon.

The Xbox Insider Hub is immediately available to anyone who is already in the Preview or Insider program. In it, announcements are made of betas of apps and games that users can participate in. In addition, users can view their own contributions to the program at a glance. Compared to the existing Preview Dashboard, the Insider Hub also gets a new interface.
