Microsoft announces a new version of its wireless Xbox Elite controller. It concerns the Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 – Core. The controller comes without replaceable parts, but is therefore also cheaper.

The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core will cost 130 euros. For that money, Microsoft delivers a white Elite controller that in many ways resembles the current Series 2 controller. The controller has the same rubber grips, metal d-pad and adjustable triggers. What is missing are the extra parts that were included with the earlier versions of the Elite controller.

To save costs, Microsoft has put the separate parts, such as the alternative d-pad and sticks, in a separately available package. The Core controller only comes with a charging cable and a tool to adjust the sensitivity of the sticks. Replacing the sticks or d-pad can be done via the component package that Xbox offers. This package costs 60 euros and can also be used to replace parts of the first Series 2 controller.

In 2019, Microsoft released the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. This version of the controller is black and is still for sale. This version costs 180 euros and comes with all accessories included. The new Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core controller will be available September 21.

Initially, there will only be a white version. The Core controller should also be available to order from this fall via Xbox Design Lab, where customers can give the controller its own color. This was already possible with the standard Xbox controller, but it is the first time that an Xbox Elite controller can also be adapted to your own taste in Xbox Design Lab.
