Microsoft has announced that it will also release a beta version of Minecraft with the release of Windows 10. Users who have purchased the current PC edition of Minecraft will soon be able to download the version for Windows 10 for free.

The company made the announcement on its Xbox blog. With the release of Windows 10 on July 29, the so-called Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta will be available for download from the Windows 10 store. Those who already have the paid PC version of the game do not have to pay again for the beta. New players will have to pay a one-time fee of $10, which will likely be $10 in Europe as long as the game is in beta. After that, the price will probably be 20 dollars again. It is not yet known how long the beta will last.

The Windows 10 version of Minecraft has similarities with the so-called Pocket editions for smartphones, according to Microsoft. Shortly after the release of the beta, there should also be an update that makes it possible to play together with mobile users. New features will be added to the Windows 10 game in the future as well. New things are already built in at the release, such as recording gameplay images and playing together with up to eight players via Xbox Live.
