Microsoft announces several new laptops for school and college students. These are the Acer TraveMate Spin B3, the Asus BR1100F, the Dell Latitude 3120 and 3120 2-in1, the Dynabook Satellite E10-S, the JP.IK Leap T304, and the HP ProBook Fortis 14-inch G9 Notebook. All these laptops and variants come with the new operating system. Finally, Microsoft is also announcing upcoming laptop releases from manufacturers Fujitsu and Positivo with Windows 11 SE.
In November last year, Microsoft announced Windows 11 SE. That is a lighter version of Windows 11, which is intended for use in schools and universities. Microsoft also comes with its own laptop for the budget segment that will come with Windows 11 SE: the Surface Laptop SE.
With the new operating system and budget laptop, Microsoft is competing with Chromebooks, which are also widely used in education. By making the operating system less heavy, it can run on cheaper laptops. Just like the Chromebooks, the Windows 11 SE laptops therefore all cost less than 500 euros. In addition, the battery life is extended, so that the laptops would better withstand a full school day.
