Microsoft Announces Anniversary Edition Flight Simulator, City Update Now Live
Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Five German cities are rendered in high resolution and via photogrammetry with the update. On November 11, the 40th Anniversary Edition will follow with the introduction of helicopters, gliders and numerous historic aircraft.
The Free City Update 01 is available today for free in the Microsoft Flight Simulator in-game store. Users who have downloaded the update will see the German cities of Hanover, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Bonn and Cologne in higher resolution. Thanks to the update, these five cities are built using photogrammetry.
Microsoft also announced the 40th Anniversary Edition of the airplane simulator. Helicopters and gliders will make their appearance there. The company also announced the Airbus A310 and seven historic aircraft that can then be flown. That will be the 1903 Wright Flyer, the 1915 Curtiss JN-4 Jenny, the 1927 Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis, the 1935 Douglas DC-3, the 1937 Grumman G-21 Goose, the 1947 Havilland DHC-2 Beaver and the 1947 Hughes H-4 Hercules. The last plane is the greatest flying boat of all time. Four new virtual airports will also be added to the simulator. Microsoft plans to release the 40th Anniversary Edition on November 11.
