Microsoft announces Age of Mythology remaster
Microsoft announces Age of Mythology: Retold. The game will be a remaster of the original from 2002. It is not yet clear when the remaster will be released. At the moment it has only been announced that the game is in production.
The remaster was announced during a stream celebrating the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The trailer doesn’t reveal much about what we can expect from Age of Mythology: Retold. It’s not even clear if it’s a new game.
In a blog confirms Xbox that it’s a remaster: “We know the Age of Mythology community has been waiting for a Definitive Edition and it’s coming. We’re working hard to bring back the glory of the original game with upgraded graphics , features and more.” What these features are is unknown.
Age of Empires II and Age of Empires III previously received a Definitive Edition. Age of Mythology was a popular spin-off from the original games, in which the historical setting was partly abandoned and there was room for mythical figures such as the Greek Pantheon and gods from Norse, Egyptian and Chinese mythology.
The console versions of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires IV were also announced during the stream. It is not known whether Age of Empires: Definitive Editon or Age of Mythology: Retold will also be released on console.
