Microsoft announced at GDC that 25 new indie games will be coming to Xbox One very soon. The developers have created the games within the framework of the ID@Xbox program.

When announcing 25 new game titles developed by independent game studios, Microsoft did not yet disclose firm release dates. The software giant just said that the titles will be available “very soon” on the Xbox One. Titles include the sidescroller 1001 Spikes, the tower defense game CastleStorm, Pinball Arcade in which various pinball machines can be played and the fighting game Guacamelee.

All of the indie titles mentioned were developed by small studios within the ID@Xbox program. Within ID@Xbox, Microsoft says it wants to remove as many barriers as possible when developing titles for the Xbox One, so that Indie developers can offer games for the console without the intervention of a major publisher. In addition, developers can use various revenue models, for example using microtransactions, but games may also be offered for free. Microsoft states that 250 developers have now received a development kit for the Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program.
